Gorges Ithaca Half

From a course tour of downtown, waterfall passings, the Cayuga Waterfront Trail, and ending shy of the Commons, the Gorges Ithaca Half Marathon, presented by Cayuga Medical Center, brings you a taste of gorges Ithaca. We're planning on extending the COVID Modifications and Mitigation plans used for Red Newt's 2020 trail events to the 2021 Gorges Ithaca Half. While we hope we'll be out of the COVID waters by September, and can revert to a mass start and after-party, we'd like to err on the side of caution. We'll continue to assess and make changes as needed including refunds if things do, or don't improve.

COVID Considerations

Please read over this document with more complete details

  • Moving to a downtown-contained new loop-course format so as to remove the bus-to-start format
  • Time-slot designated check-in and start times (5 runners every minute on the minute) to foster increased physical distancing
  • Start-Times will be on this spreadsheet by race-week
  • Mask-requirement at check-in, ahead of start, and after you cross the finish line unless physically distanced
  • Encouragement of entrants to carry their own hydration to reduce aid station cross contact and interaction
  • Post-race food in to-go style format / container

Details:

The Gorges Ithaca Half, presented by the Cayuga Wellness Center, offers entrants a representative bite of Ithaca. The third course incarnation, new in 2017, will make use of the recently completed Black Diamond rail trail, allowing us to create one of the faster and more scenic road'ish half courses you'll find anywhere.

Paired that with an after-party on the Ithaca Commons featuring food from Fittnell Farms Catering including locally sourced ingredients, brews from Ithaca Beer, and music from the West Hillbillies.
